Well spring is finally upon us and with that, the start of the mosquito season! Throughout NH snow is melting, pools are forming, and the streams are flowing with ice cold water. Today marks the beginning of our mosquito surveillance program starting in Rye. We're very excited to return to Rye marshes and wetlands this year after several years away from the town.
So far pools are very cold and covered with a thin layer of ice, but we need to know when the eggs hatch and larvae begin to grow. I will continue to update as new information is available, but before long treatment will begin. As always, we appreciate the opportunity to work with communities in preventing mosquito borne diseases. Let's hope for a light mosquito season!
